COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL LEGAL DEFENSE FUND (CELDF) works with communities to establish Community Rights – such that communities are empowered to protect the health, safety, and welfare of their residents and the natural environment, and establish environmental and economic sustainability.
For over a decade, we have worked at the local, municipal level to establish Community Rights. Today, we are building on our grassroots organizing to drive change to the state level, bringing together communities from across states in which we’ve been organizing to build State Community Rights Networks. But in Ohio, communities are governed by a patchwork of constitutional and statutory laws that grant unequal self-governing authority to home rule municipalities, statutory municipalities and unincorporated townships. By granting a bland and narrow spectrum of powers to these variously constituted communities, the right to local self-government is procedurally denied to all Ohioans. Facebook: OberlinCSSE THE SOLUTIONS PROJECTThe Solutions Project accelerates the transition to 100% clean, renewable energy for all people and purposes. To achieve this mission, we engage the public, celebrate and convene leaders, and advance collaborative campaigns that provide consumers, voters, and large-scale decision-makers with the choice to make strides on the road to 100%. We implement this integrated model at the state level. To maintain our national reach, we develop inspired content, amplify stories and media, and create opportunities to celebrate and activate leadership across the country. Website: THE SOLUTIONS PROJECT SANE ENERGY PROJECTWe oppose the development, transport and export of fracked shale gas (“natural gas”). We support a rapid switch to renewable energy and the goal of zero fossil fuel dependence by 2030, as outlined by the 2009 Stanford University study.
